Safety First

Our Chief Remote Pilot Jason Thomas holds a remote pilot licence (RePL) issued by CASA (Civil Aviation Safety Authority), and is the holder of a Remotely Piloted Aircraft Operator’s Certificate (ReOC), allowing the business to trade as a drone service provider.

CASA mandates unlicensed pilots are not authorised to fly a drone for commercial use. All our pilots have their Remote Pilot Licence.

CASA is the governing body for the commercial use of drones. Like any commercial aircraft, you need a licence to fly for commercial purposes.

We follow the standard operating conditions for the use of drones in all operations. Some conditions to keep in mind when thinking of using us for your project are:

  • We can not fly higher than 120 m (400 ft) above ground level
  • We always fly in visual line-of-sight
  • We only fly during the day ( we can apply to CASA for night operations)
  • We can not fly in a built up populous area
  • We can not fly within 30 meters to anyone not associated with the drone (approval to 15 meters available to our pilots)
  • In general we can not fly within 3 NM (5 kilometres) of a airport (we can apply for special permission to operate near an airport through CASA)

We hold and Aeronautical Radio Operator Certificate (AROC) so if required we can communicate on an aviation air-band radio frequency.

Our team has access to an Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) to ensure we are following the correct procedures for flying in different airspaces. This is a vital part of mission planning that is undertaken for every job.

All our drones are certified airworthy by the Chief Maintenance Controller. We fly the industry leading DJI brand drones. They are second to none when it comes to quality, safety and certainty.
